To commemorate the golden jubilee celebration of the college on completion of 50 years of glorious existence, the Old Boys’ Association was constituted in 1995. Well-known academician Late Prof Narayan Pruseth and ex-Chairman of Balangir Municipality Late Harish Ch. Nayak were the President and Working President respectively.
Beside organising the three-day celebration, this forum of the alumnae helped the college authority restore normalcy by successfully marginalising the hooligans who had made a mess in the late nineties. The association also held a national seminar in 1995 to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
In 2006, the Alumni Association of the college was constituted and subsequently registered. In 2012, the members of the said association were also instrumental in ensuring B++ grade for the college by the NAAC.
It is a matter of great pride that the state government, as per its notification of 2 March, 2019, declared elevation of this autonomous college into an affiliating university by altering the territorial jurisdiction of Sambalpur University. As this oldest higher educational institution of western Odisha celebrates its Platinum Jubilee this year, nothing can be more gratifying for all the students, present and former, than the university status recently granted.
